The meaning of tadasana

A fully realized tadasana should transform you into the axis about which your world rotates.  Think of your spine as the axis, relaxing all muscles not directly involved in lengthening upwards, especially shoulders.  Imagine the earth turning slowly about you.  Feel sun warming your exposed skin.   Sense how lightly the earth moves.  Imagine, as your shoulders relax and you enter deep calm, the spin slowing to a stop.  Sense the brilliance of nature's colors permeate your being.  As you inspire, notice how once turbulent winds abate.  You are a shining spire.

Namaste,

Shatra

  1. Shatra,

As ever your words are an inspiration to me. Your in class instructions always seem to cut through the thousand and one pose adjustments to the heart of the asana. I don't feel like a robot trying to move this and that to get into the pose. Somehow your instructions let me flow right into it. Keep it up!

  2. Hi Shatra,

A girl's reputation is nearly always accurate. It's with this in mind that I'd like to register for one of your first-timers classes. I thumbed through the ifallsdaily for a schedule listing but couldn't find anything. A friend of a friend said you sometimes post a schedule on the board near the garden center entrance at Menards.

    Thanks a bunch, Wanda O
